Lou Fernandez is an experienced immigration professional since 1996. He has expertise and working knowledge in both federal and provincial nominee programs in Canada.
In Manitoba, he was directly involved in the development and implementation of both the Skilled Workers and Business Streams of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), in which he was the Immigration Program Officer from 1996 to 2005 and a Senior Program Officer and the Acting Director until 2007. Lou has completed several immigration training, including the Immigration & Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) Course, which have been conducted by the International Region’ Training Centre of Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC) in Ottawa, Ontario.
Since 1996 and until 2007, Lou has been directly involved with the screening and selection of both the business and skilled worker immigrants to Manitoba. He has provided an active role in planning, developing, and responding to policy & procedural requirements to continue the expansion of immigration to Manitoba and Canada. While in government, he has shared wealth of expertise and direct experience is issues related to labour market needs, regional economic development, and technical immigration matters, among others.
Lou has completed a bachelor’s degree in commerce, masters in business administration, and studies in human resource & public sector management. As the son of an immigrant, he understands the needs of newly-arrived immigrants and be economically established in Manitoba and Canada. His passion and expertise in helping people is very important to ALTEC GLOBAL clients.
